Monchique’s Artesanos

Nic and I together with Marie-Ann visited Maria Dosa and her husband at their home today. In their basement Maria makes rugs and her husband helps her to make a type of string, which is made with the wooden tool below from something similar to hay – the fibers are split from the strain, then straightened and twisted into a thin string.  Building on Julia’s and Nic’s research, working with the local producer association and already visiting some of the producers, I am now combining the craft shops with the producers map from in and around Monchique to an A3 folding map.
